Tool will on May 15 release "Lateralus" (Volcano), its first album in more than four years, as well as kick-off a four-date U.S. tour in Atlanta. The artsy heavy metal act will hit Chicago, Detroit, and New York before heading across the Atlantic for five weeks. Overseas, the band will partake in the inaugural date for the 2001 Ozzfest in England. A full North American tour is expected, but a routing has yet to be finalized.

"Schism," the first single off "Lateralus," will be released to radio on May 6, but the band's official Web site will feature the song on May 1. On the site, fans can get a peek at the album's art, and check out lyrics for the single, as well as new tracks "The Grudge" and "Ticks and Leeches."

"Lateralus" is the follow-up to 1996's "Aenima," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and spawned the single "Stinkfist," which peaked at No. 17 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Here at Tool's tour dates:
May 15: Atlanta (Tabernacle)
May 17: Chicago (Riviera Theatre)
May 18: Detroit (State Theatre)
May 20: New York (Hammerstein Ballroom))
