With a little help from a former Beatle, Welsh popsters Super Furry Animals are set to release their fifth studio album July 16 in the U.K. on new label Epic. The set, titled "Rings Around the World," is thought to be the first album to be released simultaneously in CD and DVD forms and features a guest appearance by Paul McCartney. North American release plans were not available at deadline.

McCartney and the Super Furry Animals teamed up previously for last September's "Liverpool Sound Collage" album, which featured electronic sound experiments based partly on outtakes of Beatles recording sessions. Other guests on "World" include the Velvet Underground's John Cale and members of the High Llamas, who provided string arrangements.

The DVD release of "Rings Around the World" will include 12 short films corresponding with each track, as well as remixes of each song, bonus tracks, and previously unreleased footage of the band. The DVD was mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, but will also carry a regular stereo mix.

The first single from the album will be "Juxtapozed With U," which will be released in the U.K. on July 2 with two non-album tracks, "Tradewinds" and "Happiness Is a Worn Pun."

Without a proper U.K. label since the closing of former home Creation in 1999, the group released its last album, 2000's "Mwng," on its own Placid Casual imprint. "Mwng" has since been recognized by the British Parliament as the biggest-selling Welsh-language album of all time.
