As tipped here last week, John Mellencamp will begin a tour July 31 at San Diego State University that is expected to run through next spring. The tour comes in advance of the artist's next Columbia album, "Cuttin' Heads," due in September. The Wallflowers will support on some dates.

Mellencamp told Billboard last week that the dates will feature old songs he has never performed live, as well as several songs slated for inclusion on "Cuttin' Heads." This Saturday (April 28), he will appear at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay for Tiger Jam IV, the fourth annual benefit for pro golfer Tiger Woods' charitable foundation.
