Security concerns and other problems have caused the postponement of the fifth annual Online Hip-Hop Awards. Due to feature Redman, Missy Elliott, and Wyclef Jean, among other celebrities, the event was scheduled for May 3 at the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom in New York.

Executive producer Felicia Palmer said she hopes to put on the awards show sometime this summer. "We've all seen what happens when show production is not on the proper level," said Palmer. "We decided it is imperative that we take a little more time to make the production the highest quality possible."

An event spokesperson said there were concerns about whether there would be adequate security for the event, but that was not the overriding factor for the postponement.

"The postponing of the show is going to mean a better event in the end for everyone involved," said Palmer.

Online voting via the event's official Web site is due to end today (April 27). There is no indication if voting will be extended now that the show has been indefinitely postponed.
