The traveling event will feature a main stage, as well as a second stage that will feature music and "alternative forms of entertainment." Additional artists and the full list of tour dates have not yet been announced.
The Pledge tour will be produced by Immortal Touring and Events' Kevin Lyman, who for several years has handled similar chores for the annual Warped Tour. The tour is a collaborative effort of Slipknot, System of a Down, and Immortal, as well as StreetWise Concepts & Culture, No Name Music, and the Agency Group.
"System of a Down and Slipknot will headline a rock tour that will offer credibility along with pure, raw entertainment," StreetWise's David Benveniste said in a statement. "For those who join us, it will be a day they won't soon forget."
Slipknot will be touring in support of its 1999 self-titled debut, which last May peaked at No. 51 on The Billboard 200, and in January peaked at No. 6 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart.
As previously reported, System of a Down will likely appear on this summer's Family Values tour, and will appear on a trio of radio station festival bills later this month. The band is planning a summer release for its as-yet-untitled sophomore album. Produced by Rick Rubin, the set follows the band's 1998 American debut, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart last February.
