Jill Scott, who missed nearly two weeks as the opening act on Sting's tour because of a lung infection, is scheduled to join the tour tonight (May 15) when it stops in Madison, Wis. As previously reported, the Grammy-nominated R&B artist was to perform on May 5 when Sting kicked off the latest leg of his concert tour in Washington, D.C. But Scott fell ill and was briefly hospitalized in her native Philadelphia.

The singer since has recovered and will perform on the tour for the rest of the month, according to her spokesperson. She is also scheduled to appear June 2 as part of Miami's three-day Soul Beach Music Festival.

Scott's debut Hidden Beach/Epic album, "Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1," earned her three Grammy nominations this year, and in February was certified by the Recording Industry Association of America for U.S. shipments of 1 million copies.

Sting's North American tour is the latest in support of his A&M album "Brand New Day." Released in September 1999, the album has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America for U.S. shipments of 3 million copies.
