'N Sync, Faith Hill, and Britney Spears will be among the artists reading prayers by Pope John Paul II on a spoken-word CD due out in North America during the Christmas season. The CD serves as a companion piece to "The Private Prayer Books of Pope John Paul II," a seven-volume collection of his personal writings. In addition, a video/DVD on the making of the CD project will be released.

"The prayer books, CD and video represent a project that is global in its scope," Rick Garson, chairman of co-distributor Compulsion Entertainment, said in a statement.

Compulsion Entertainment and Pocket Books already have reached a deal on North American rights and are working on a multimillion dollar agreement for the project worldwide. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to charities selected by the Vatican.
