Stories on Shaggy, 'N Sync, and R.E.M.

ShaggyPerformances by Shaggy, Sugar Ray, BBMak, Dream, and the Baha Men will be featured in the "Walt Disney World Summer Jam Concert," to be broadcast Sunday (June 10) at 7 p.m. ET on ABC. The special was taped at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, as well as at the new Disney California Adventure park and on the Disney Wonder cruise ship in the Bahamas.

Shaggy and Krystal will serve as the support act for the Backstreet Boys' summer tour, which kicks off tomorrow (June 8) in Orlando, Fla.





'N Sync'N Sync will be on hand to sing the national anthem at former New Jersey Nets center Jayson Williams' Celebrity Softball Challenge July 29 at Riverfront Stadium in Newark, N.J. The event, held in conjunction with the Newark Bears baseball team, will benefit the Jayson Williams Foundation.

Celebrities scheduled to play include Penny Marshall, Danny Aiello, and model Kylie Bax. Williams' foundation is focused helping children infected or affected with HIV/AIDS and "at risk" youth.

R.E.M.R.E.M.'s new Warner Bros. album "Reveal" received its inaugural Platinum Europe Award from IFPI, the international music industry trade group, in May, for registering sales in excess of 1 million units in its first month of release, Billboard Bulletin reports. Destiny's Child's "Survivor" (Columbia) and Spanish act La Oreja De Van Gogh's "El Viaje De Copperpot" (Epic) also reached the platinum milestone.

Australian rock band INXS went double platinum with the 1994 release "Greatest Hits" (Universal), while veteran trio the Bee Gees topped the 2-million sales target with their live double set "One Night Only" (Universal). Zucchero's "The Best of Zucchero" (Polydor) topped 3 million in European sales.
