U.K. electronic duo Basement Jaxx has confirmed a handful of U.S. DJ appearances in support of its forthcoming Astralwerks album "Rooty," due June 26. The dates include two special live performances June 14 in New York's Central Park and Sept. 29 as part of the Creamfields Festival in Las Vegas. DJ appearances begin July 11 in Detroit.
The new album's first single, "Romeo," debuted at No. 6 on the U.K. singles chart last weekend. Though decidedly more pop and a tad less influenced by Latin rhythms than its predecessor, "Rooty" is also grittier and more experimental. "When we made the first album, we were questioning every part of the process," group member Felix Buxton told Billboard. "This time, we did less questioning. We were confident with who we are and what we wanted to express musically."
A full North American tour, featuring a live band, dancers, and a strong visual component, is in the works for this fall.
