Hard rock heavyweights Tool will team with progressive rock veterans King Crimson for a nine-date tour of the western U.S., kicking off Aug. 3 at Red Rocks outside of Denver. Tool is out in support of its latest Volcano album "Lateralus," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 last month and is currently No. 18 on the chart. The single "Schism" is No. 2 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks and No. 4 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.

King Crimson, which currently consists of guitarists Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew, drummer Pat Mastelotto, and multi-instrumentalist Trey Gunn, is touring behind last year's Virgin album "The ConstruKction of Light."

Aug. 8: Portland, Ore. (Schnitzer Hall)
