Tonight's (July 5) opening show of Janet Jackson's All for You tour has been postponed. The concert, set to happen at Vancouver's GM Place, has been rescheduled due to the delayed arrival of part of the tour's massive set. According to a statement released by Orca Bay and SFX Concerts, the shipping problem is being blamed on the Canada Day and Independence Day holidays.
Jackson has been rehearsing in Vancouver for about a week in preparation for the tour, which will now officially launch on Saturday in Portland, Ore. "Janet has really enjoyed her stay in Vancouver and wants to ensure that Vancouver fans are treated to the best show possible," promoters said in the statement.
The situation is reminiscent of Madonna's cancellation of her Drowned World Tour opener in Germany. Those shows in Cologne, however, were not rescheduled.
Meanwhile, the first three songs of Jackson's Portland show will be broadcast live on VH1. "Janet Jackson: Opening Night Live" will air beginning at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday. Along with live reporting from the venue, the broadcast will feature clips of Jackson's "Greatest Television Moments."
Jackson's trek -- her first since 1998's Velvet Rope Tour -- recently topped a Billboard.com poll of most anticipated summer tours. As previously reported, a portion of the proceeds from the North American leg of the tour will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs.
The tour comes in support of her latest Virgin album "All for You," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in May, and is at No. 20 in its 10th week on the chart.
