Modern rock paragons Radiohead and R.E.M. are showing off their two-dimensional acting skills on cartoon sitcoms. Tonight's (July 11) episode of "South Park" will feature a guest spot by Radiohead, and R.E.M. has confirmed that its members will appear in an episode of "The Simpsons" later this year.

According to South Park's official Web site, the members of Radiohead will "play a vital role" in helping the show's character Cartman plot revenge against an eighth-grader in the episode, "Scott Tenorman Must Die," airing at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.

The site notes that show creator Matt Stone recorded Radiohead's voices for the episode last month, when the group was in Santa Barbara, Calif., playing two shows on the first leg of its North American tour.

Meanwhile, R.E.M.'s official Web site reports that the trio will be in Los Angeles next week recording an episode of "The Simpsons," set to air this November on Fox. No word has yet surfaced on what the band's role in the episode will be.
