Hip-hop artist Beanie Sigel (real name: Dwight Grant) was arrested Friday on Sigel Street -- the South Philadelphia neighborhood street that serves as his namesake -- and charged with aggravated and simple assault. The incident marks the second time assault charges have been filed against him this year.

Police said the 27-year-old rapper and his friends were standing on the sidewalk when the alleged victim, Frank Ferrer, drove down the street and was unable to get past the group. Ferrer told police he got out of his pickup truck and was jumped, and that Sigel kicked and punched him while he was down. Ferrer, 31, was treated for a fractured rib, an eye injury, and a concussion.

In February, Sigel was accused of pouring a drink on a young woman and threatening her with a gun. Those charges, also filed in Philadelphia, were dropped when the victim failed to appear in court.

Sigel's new album, "The Reason," debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 earlier this month and is at No. 13 this week. The artist's representative at Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam Records has no comment.
