Joe JacksonA remix of Joe Jackson's "Glamour and Pain" (Manticore/Sony Classical), taken from last year's "Night and Day II" album, has been making the club rounds as of late. The melancholy track has been refashioned by Dezrok into a peak-hour, Pet Shop Boys-inflected dancefloor jam, surrounding Jackson's vocals with filtered effects, trance-hued synth patterns, drumrolls, and a rugged bassline.

Dezrok -- who gained notoriety in 1999 for his remix of the "Star Wars" theme -- has in the past remixed tracks by Britney Spears, Monica Ramos, Da Buzz, and Jessica Simpson. At present, dance clubs will be the only places listeners will have the opportunity to hear his promotional "Glamour and Pain" remix, as the label has no plans to make it available commercially.

Peter WhiteSmooth jazz guitarist Peter White will on Oct. 2 release his seventh solo album, "Glow," via Columbia. Described as a very personal project, the 11-track album was recorded in between two life changing events -- the death of his father and the birth of his first child. "More than anything else, my father taught me to dig deeper and to try harder," White says. "He lived thinking that something big and wonderful was always on the horizon. I admired him for that and it not only made me a better player, but a better man."

The album's release will be led next month by the radio single "Turn it Out," one of the nine songs on the album that were either written or co-written by White. The song pairs the artist with guest saxophonist Euge Groove (real name: Steve Grove), a one-time member of the Tower of Power that has played with the likes of Elton John, Tina Turner, Bonnie Raitt, and Aaron Neville, among many others. His self-titled solo debut was released last year by Warner Bros.

Other guests who appear on White's latest are some of the top names in smooth jazz, including Rick Braun, Dave Koz, Kirk Whalum, Jeff Lorber, and Steve Cole. A U.S. tour in support of "Glow" will be announced soon.
