With three nominations apiece, Jill Scott, 3LW, and Sunshine Anderson head the list of nominees for the seventh annual Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, taping Aug. 28 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, Calif. Awards will be handed out in a total of nine categories encompassing R&B, hip-hop, rap, and gospel.

In addition, Scott will receive the Aretha Franklin Award for entertainer of the year, while Patti LaBelle will be given the Lena Horne Award for outstanding career achievement. The nationally syndicated Lady of Soul Awards, produced by Don Cornelius Productions in association with Tribune Entertainment Company, will begin airing Sept. 1.
