Just a week after the Las Vegas edition of the Creamfields electronic music fest was canceled due to logistical and other issues, the plug has been pulled on the New York installment of the event due to poor ticket sales. The event, scheduled for Sept. 1 in the Riverhead section of Long Island, was to feature performances by Fatboy Slim, Orbital, and the Crystal Method.

"Both Cream and [event promoter] Clear Channel are hugely disappointed that the event is not going to take place this year," organizers said in a statement. "All the artists and DJs involved were looking forward to participating in such a significant event for dance and electronic music. We would like to apologize to anyone who has already purchased tickets and to anybody who was planning on doing so."

Refunds are available at point of purchase. The Liverpool, England, edition of the event is still set for Aug. 25, featuring Fatboy Slim, Orbital, Gorillaz, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Goldie, Darren Emerson, and more. A Creamfields festival is also on tap for Nov. 10 in Buenos Aires, and an Australian event is planned for the last quarter of 2001.
