Slipknot and System of a Down's inaugural Pledge of Allegiance tour will kick off Sept. 14 in Rosemont, Ill., several weeks earlier than its previously announced start date of Oct. 1. Rammstein and Mudvayne will appear on all dates, while No One will support through Oct. 7. American Head Charge will take over opening duties through the tour's Oct. 31 close at a New York area location yet to be finalized.
The shows, the final three weeks worth of which are still being confirmed, will feature a general admission section on the venue floors, as well as "alternative forms of entertainment," according to tour producer Kevin Lyman of Immortal Touring and Events. Lyman has for several years has handled similar chores for the annual Warped Tour.
Pledge of Allegiance will allow both headliners to showcase new albums. As previously reported, System of a Down's sophomore American/Columbia album, "Toxicity," is due Sept. 4. First single "Chop Suey" is No. 23 on both Billboard's Modern and Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Slipknot's sophomore Roadrunner album, "Iowa," is due Aug. 28. First single "Left Behind" debuted at No. 37 on Mainstream Rock Tracks this week.
Following the tour, Slipknot will embark on a six-date U.K. visit that kicks off Nov. 2 in Cardiff. The group's Shawn Crahan (aka #6) has also executive produced the upcoming London album from 40 Below Summer, "Invitation to the Dance." The set is due Oct. 16.
