Veteran hip-hop trio De La Soul will release its new Tommy Boy album, "Bionix," on Dec. 4. The set is the second in a planned trilogy under the "Art Official Intelligence" moniker, and follows the 2000 release "Mosaic Thump," which debuted at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 and reached No. 3 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The first single will be "Baby Phat" featuring Devin the Dude. Among the guest contributors to "Bionix" are Cypress Hill's B-Real on "Peer Pressure," Goodie Mob's Cee-Lo on "Held Down," Slick Rick on "Do for Love," and Cuban vocalist Periquo Fernandez on "Watch Out." Vocalist Dave West also makes an appearance.

"The themes and ideas are similar to 'Mosaic Thump,' but we are much more aggressive with [the] lyrics on 'Bionix'," De La's Dave Jolicoeur (formerly Trugoy the Dove) said in a statement.

Look for De La Soul on a North American headlining tour, beginning Oct. 19 and wrapping Nov. 21. A full itinerary has not yet been finalized, but fellow rap mainstay Biz Markie is confirmed to support.
