Details for the 2002 edition of Australia's biggest music festival, Big Day Out are beginning to come together. The initial lineup is set to include electronic music stars Prodigy, New Order, and the Crystal Method, as well as NOFX, Garbage, U.K. DJ Dave Clarke, and a host of native bands, including Grinspoon and Regurgitator.

Several additional artists are expected to sign on for the event, for which promoters will be stepping up security as a result of the accidental death of 15-year-old Jessica Michalik during a Limp Bizkit set at last year's festival.

In a statement on the festival's official Web site, promoters Vivian Lees and Ken West said "we won't pretend that last January was a high point for us or the team. However, it's now time to focus on the future & inform everyone of what we have in store for 2002." One step organizers are taking is bundling festival tickets with the "BDO Pack," a bag containing useful items to combat heat, including refillable water bottles and sun block.

Tickets for the festival, which comprises six outdoor shows in Australia and New Zealand for an average total audience of 250,000, will be available Oct. 19 through the Big Day Out Web site.
