Country artist Suzy Bogguss will independently release the holiday album "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Nov. 1 on her own Loyal Dutchess Records label. The set will be available through the artist's suzybogguss.com Web site, Amazon.com, select retailers, and at Bogguss' concerts.

Several of the album's dozen songs -- including "Mr. Santa" and "Two-Step Around the Christmas Tree" -- were recorded during Bogguss' 12-year tenure with Capitol Records and licensed from the label for inclusion on the set, while the rest are newly recorded.

"This is a modern record but there's a reminiscent quality to it," Bogguss said in a statement. "It's the way Christmas sounded to me when I was growing up. We'd always play Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Andy Williams -- really spirited, warm Christmas records... My goal with this record was to be one of those you pull out and play every year."

Among those who helped her achieve that goal is Delbert McClinton, who duets with Bogguss on "Baby It's Cold Outside," and Ricky Scaggs and the late Chet Atkins, who appear on "Mr. Santa."

Bogguss, who plans to support the release with a series of live appearances during the holiday season, is currently negotiating a new label deal which will see the release of a new studio album and the re-release of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" next year. The new album will feature Western swing act Asleep At The Wheel, and is tentatively due out in the spring.

Performances already scheduled are Dec. 13 in Annapolis, Md.; Dec. 14 in Alexandria, Va.; Dec. 15 in Uncasville, Conn.; and Dec. 12 in Torrington, Conn.
