Basement JaxxU.K. dance duo Basement Jaxx has been added to the performance lineup for the 2001 MTV Europe Awards, set for Nov. 8 in Frankfurt, Germany. The group joins previously announced performers Blink-182, Craig David, Dido, Kylie Minogue, R.E.M., Rammstein, and Depeche Mode. According to organizers, Destiny's Child will also perform despite having canceled all other European touring plans earlier this week.

Among the presenters will be Nelly Furtado, Shaggy, Bush's Gavin Rossdale, Pink, Samantha Mumba, Alicia Keys, Atomic Kitten, Eddy Grant, Ronan Keating, tennis star Boris Becker, and model Heidi Klum. As previously reported, U.K. cartoon band Gorillaz leads the field with six nominations.

JanovitzFormer Buffalo Tom frontman Bill Janovitz and the Meat Puppets' Curt Kirkwood will hit the road next month for a week-long co-headlining tour. Janovitz will be out in support of his second solo album, "Up Here" (spinART), while Kirkwood is touring behind the Puppets' 2000 album "Golden Lies" (Atlantic).

The pair will kick off the run Nov. 1 at New York's Mercury Lounge, and continue on together through Nov. 6 in Annapolis, Md. The Meat Puppets' official Web site shows a calendar of acoustic dates for Kirkwood through Nov. 17, although only three dates list detail -- Nov. 8 in Chapel, N.C., Nov. 9 in Athens, Ga., and Nov. 15 in New Orleans -- with the rest yet to be determined.

StaindYahoo! will on Monday (Oct. 22) launch a domestic violence awareness campaign with a week-long auction of Motorola wireless phone faceplates signed and decorated by celebrities. Proceeds from the auction -- which includes autographs and artwork from Staind's Aaron Lewis, Tim McGraw, Alanis Morissette, members of the Backstreet Boys, Korn's Jonathan Davis, and Trisha Yearwood -- will benefit the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the September 11th Fund.

Celebrity Signature Wireless Phone Campaign packages -- which will be open for bids at http://auctions.yahoo.com -- will include a decorated and signed faceplate, a Motorola Talkabout 8167 phone, and one year of Sprint PCS wireless service.

Other artists who've donated their handiwork include Billy Gilman, Enrique Iglesias, Faith Hill, Jessica Andrews, Jo Dee Messina, Martina McBride, members of O-Town, Michael Bolton, Reba McEntire, and Shakira. Other participating celebrities include actors Charlize Theron, Dylan McDermott, and Susan Sarandon, NASCAR drivers Richard and Kyle Petty, and supermodels Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer.
