No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani came in second with five nominations, followed by Staind with four. U2 and Dave Matthews Band received nominations for favorite group, video, must-have album, the Damn, I wish I wrote that category, hottest live show, and coolest fan Web site.

Mick Jagger, Creed, Sting, Nelly Furtado, Lenny Kravitz, Destiny's Child, and No Doubt will perform during the Dec. 2 ceremony, which will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The My VH1 Music Awards allows fans to suggest categories, pick finalists, and vote online in real time for the eventual winners.

Moby and Train each received three mentions, as did the teaming Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, and Pink for their version of "Lady Marmalade."

Staind will be competing against Alicia Keys, Lifehouse, Furtado, and Train in the Welcome to the big time category. In the favorite female artist field, Stefani will duel it out with Keys, Madonna, Janet Jackson, and the late Aaliyah.
