ABC had to hurriedly cut a Michael Jackson performance out of a concert special that aired last night (Nov. 1) at the singer's request, a spokesperson said. Jackson asked for his performance to be cut from the "United We Stand" concert special because his own concert special is planned to air Nov. 13 on CBS.

CBS had suggested that Jackson's special might have to be delayed if he had appeared so recently in a competing network's show, according to The New York Times. The CBS special is timed to air shortly after the release of Jackson's new Epic album, "Invincible," on Tuesday. The album is on target to debut on top of The Billboard 200 next week.

Jackson did appear as one of several performers in an all-star finale at the end of ABC's "United" show. Footage for the special was captured on Oct. 21 at the United We Stand - What More Can I Give? benefit concert at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Jackson's own special is culled from two celebrity-packed concerts staged at New York's Madison Square Garden on Sept. 7 and 10.
