U2 has tacked on eight new shows to the itinerary for the second North American leg of its Elevation world tour. The new dates begin Nov. 20 in Sacramento and will wrap Dec. 2 in Miami, about 30 miles southeast of Sunrise, Fla., where the tour began back in late March. Shows have also been added in Phoenix, Dallas, Kansas City, Mo., St. Louis, Atlanta, and Tampa, Fla.

Tickets for the extended dates go on sale Saturday (Nov. 10) and Nov. 17. U2 hits Denver tonight (Nov. 7) with No Doubt in tow; opening acts for the new shows have not yet been confirmed.

Prior to the second North American leg's Oct. 10 kickoff in South Bend, Ind., U2 had played 50 dates in North America and 33 in Europe, all of which sold out. At that point, the tour had grossed $105 million; the subsequent dates will likely take U2's gross close to $135 million for the year. Such numbers will make a strong case for the group as 2001's top touring act in the world.
