A dislocated shoulder has forced Usher to take a three-month rest, delaying the start of his North American tour. The R&B singer suffered the injury last week while rehearsing a dance number for the tour, according to his publicist. He underwent surgery Monday and has been hospitalized in Los Angeles.

The North American tour was scheduled to kick off Nov. 29 in Toronto with Ray J and Fabolous in tow, and last through a New Year's Day performance in Vancouver. However, because of Usher's injury, the trek is now likely to begin in April.

It is unknown whether or not Usher will still make a planned appearance in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, or if a European tour tentatively scheduled for February and March will be affected.

Usher's latest single, "U Got It Bad," is on top of Billboard's Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart in its 11th week on the tally. The cut comes from the artist's Arista album "8701," which debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 in August.
