Canadian pop/rock star Nelly Furtado has begun lining up North American tour dates for the New Year, which will be preceded by a host of appearances at radio station-sponsored holiday concerts. Dates in 2002 are set to begin Jan. 28 in Victoria, British Columbia, and currently run through April 18 in Toronto. Furtado will also appear Sunday (Dec. 2) at the My VH1 Music Awards, at which she is nominated in the Welcome to the Bigtime category.

The shows come in support of Furtado's DreamWorks debut, "Whoa, Nelly!," which reached No. 24 on The Billboard 200 in late October and is No. 60 in its 48th week. Her latest single, "Turn off the Light," is No. 5 on The Billboard Hot 100.
