Bob Dylan will kick off a round of 2002 tour dates Jan. 31 at the TD Waterhouse Centre in Orlando, Fla. Tickets to the five announced Southern U.S. dates -- which will feature only Dylan and his band, and no opening act -- were made available yesterday (Dec. 11) via an Internet presale through the artist's official Web site. Remaining tickets will be sold via Ticketmaster beginning Saturday.

According to a post on Dylan's site, the tour is expected to last through late February, with more shows to be announced soon. The artist recently wrapped up a slate of U.S. tour dates in support of his latest Columbia album, "Love and Theft," with a Nov. 24 show at Boston's FleetCenter.

Released in September, "Love and Theft," debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200. Last month, the set was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for U.S. sales of 500,000 copies.

As previously reported, Dylan is in the midst of writing a multi-volume autobiography. Titled "Chronicles," the first installment is due out next year through Simon & Schuster.

A live version of "Fourth Time," originally released on the 1966 Columbia album "Bob Dylan Live 1966," can be found on the new Warner Bros. soundtrack to the film "Vanilla Sky."
