New performers have been added to the lineup for the 29th annual American Music Awards, airing live Jan. 9 on ABC. Britney Spears will perform "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," Usher will sing the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper "U Got It Bad," and Mick Jagger will perform an as-yet-unspecified song. The new acts join previously confirmed performers Cher, Toby Keith, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Shaggy, Brooks & Dunn, Yolanda Adams, and show co-host Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.

Newly announced awards presents include 'N Sync, Pink, Kiss' Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, Clint Black, Steven Curtis Chapman, Lit, Faith Evans, Reba McEntire, Mandy Moore, and Uncle Kracker. Alicia Keys, Nelly Furtado, Method Man, O-Town, and Ja Rule are among the other acts that will also present. Keys leads the field with five nominations.

In other awards news, Usher, Furtado, India.Arie, Outkast, Ja Rule, and Train will be on hand to announce the 2002 Grammy nominations at a Jan. 4 press conference in Beverly Hills, Calif. The 44th annual Grammys will be held Feb. 27 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
