Bee Gees members Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb were among those named by the Queen to the New Year Honours list, announced Tuesday, Billboard Bulletin reports. The Gibb brothers each received a CBE (Commander of the British Empire), as did opera star Lesley Garrett.

Broadcaster Jimmy Young was awarded a knighthood. He began his career in entertainment as a singer; in 1955, he became the first U.K. artist to reach No. 1 at home with two successive singles, "Unchained Melody" and "The Man From Laramie."

Celebrating a successful comeback year, Sade (real name: Helen Folsesade Adu) received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire). Musical star Barbara Dickson also received an OBE, as did Colin Graham, artistic director of the San Francisco Opera, and concert pianist William Barry Douglas.

The honor of MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) was bestowed upon concert promoter and Ember Records founder Jeffrey Kruger and steelband pioneer Sterling Betancourt; Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell became an honorary MBE.
