The Immortal soundtrack to the upcoming film "Blade 2" will feature a host of intriguing electronic/hip-hop collaborations, including tracks by Mos Def and Massive Attack, Gorillaz and Redman, Moby and Mystikal, Roni Size and Cypress Hill, and BT and the Roots. The soundtrack is due March 26; the film, with Wesley Snipes reprising his title role, is set to open three days later in U.S. theaters.
At deadline, the album's track list was not yet finalized, but other pairings destined for the set include Rah Digga and Groove Armada, Ice Cube and Paul Oakenfold, Dub Pistols with Busta Rhymes and Silkk The Shocker, the Crystal Method and Bubba Sparxxx, and Danny Saber with Jadakiss and Fabolous. Both Fatboy Slim and Basement Jaxx have penned tracks for Eve, but it's not yet certain which collaboration will make the final cut.
The project is the brainchild of Immortal founder/CEO Happy Walters, who orchestrated similarly off-beat genre pairings on 1994's "Judgement Night" (hip-hop/rock) and 1998's "Spawn" (electronic/hard rock) soundtracks. "We have taken an aggressive approach in combining these two types of music on this soundtrack," Walters said in a statement. "The process of putting this together was both artistically challenging and fulfilling."
