As football fans tune into this weekend's conference championship games, they will be entertained not only by the gridiron action, but by some top-shelf music artists. A halftime performance by Sheryl Crow will take place in the midst of Sunday's (Jan. 27) AFC Championship game between the favored Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots. Television coverage of that game at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field begins at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
R&B star R. Kelly will handle entertainment chores during the NFC Championship game later that day. Kelly will perform in St. Louis' Dome at America's Center between halves of the match-up between the underdog Philadelphia Eagles and the St. Louis Rams, coverage of which begins at 4:15 p.m. ET on Fox.
The winner of each game will meet Feb. 3 in New Orleans' Louisiana Superdome in Super Bowl XXXVI. As previously reported, U2 perform at halftime, while a list of artists from Paul McCartney to Mary J. Blige to Barry Manilow will perform during pre-game activities televised in the U.S. by Fox.
It doesn't end there, though. While the championship will be decided during the Super Bowl, the National Football League's best players will compete in the annual Pro Bowl game, set for Feb. 9 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. In the U.S., the ABC television broadcast of the game will feature Jessica Simpson singing the National Anthem, and Sugar Ray performing during the halftime break.
