MTV's upcoming reality series "The Osbournes," which follows the lives of veteran heavy metal artist Ozzy Osbourne and his family, won't be a big draw for most viewers, according to a recently completed Billboard.com poll. An overwhelming 69% of 1,767 respondents said that they have no plans to watch the show.
Of those, 27% said that from what they already know of Ozzy, they don't want to watch a show about his life. Another 25% think the fact that the show even exists proves how far out of hand the reality TV trend has gotten. An additional 17% said simply that they do not watch reality television shows.
On the plus side for "The Osbournes," 14% of those participating in the poll think that the show has the potential to be one of the funniest and most compelling television shows ever. An additional 12% said they are Ozzy fans and are always interested in finding out more about his life. Just 4% said they will watch the show because they are fans of the reality television show genre.
As previously reported, "The Osbournes" premieres March 5 on MTV. The producers of the series had virtually unlimited access for cameras to follow Ozzy, his wife Sharon, and their teenage kids Jack and Kelly for six months. The series is scheduled for a six-to-eight show run, but may be extended if it proves popular.
