Chart-topping rapper Eminem is nearly finished with his third Interscope album, "The Eminem Show." The set, co-produced by the artist with Dr. Dre, is the follow-up to 2000's "The Marshall Mathers LP," which has been certified eight times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for U.S. sales of 8 million units. "The Eminem Show" is due sometime in April.

Snippets of one of the songs from the new album, "Cleaning Out My Closet," are currently featured in the trailer for the film "8 Mile," in which Eminem makes his acting debut. "It's a lot more serious this time," Dr. Dre recently told Entertainment Weekly. "There's not as much playful stuff on it. It's crazy. It's him being him."

"8 Mile" is due July 15 in U.S. theaters and will be accompanied by a soundtrack on Eminem's own Shady Records label. As previously reported, the film was directed by Curtis Hanson ("Wonder Boys," "L.A. Confidential") and also stars Kim Basinger, Mekhi Phifer, and Brittany Murphy.

Filming of the project raised ire in Highland Park, Mich., after a house was torched as part of a key point in the film, when the character portrayed by Eminem decides to turn his life around. In return for shooting the scene, the film company agreed to raze the abandoned house and two others, at a cost of $20,000, and to make a donation to the municipality, which is located within Detroit.
