Lucky Kid Rock fans in four U.S. cities will be treated to the often awe-inspiring presence of comedy rock act Tenacious D. The duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass have signed on to open shows in Indianapolis (March 22), Louisville, Ky. (March 23), Kansas City, Mo. (March 28), and St. Louis, Mo. (March 29) on Rock's forthcoming North American tour.
Tickets for the Louisville show go on sale Saturday (Feb. 9) via Ticketmaster; on sale dates for the other shows have not yet been announced. As previously reported, Rock will kick off his North American tour Feb. 22 in Saginaw, Mich. The trek concludes May 4 with an appearance at Atlanta's annual Music Midtown festival.
Having released its self-titled Epic debut album last October, Tenacious D is also planning its own headlining tour, and promises special guests will join the act on the road, according to the label. In December, the D tapped legendary mock metal act Spinal Tap to open a benefit concert for the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation at Los Angeles' House of Blues
"The 'White Album' is a little bit better," Black conceded recently when talking to Billboard about the group's debut. "But it's neck and neck, and they only got us by a nose. Ya know what? Scratch that -- by a nostril. Scratch that, dude. Our nose is actually ahead of the 'White Album's nose, but the 'White Album' sneezed, and a booger crossed the finish line before us. They beat us by a flying sneeze booger!" The album debuted at No. 33 on The Billboard 200.
