Bonnie Raitt has confirmed a dozen spring tour dates in conjunction with her upcoming Capitol album, "Silver Lining," due April 9. Dates are set to begin March 30 in Madison, Wisc., and wrap May 30 in Houston. Jon Cleary, the newest member of Raitt's backing band, will also serve as the opening act. In the midst of the shows, Raitt will hit "The Late Show With David Letterman" on April 24 and "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" on April 30.

"Silver Lining" takes its name from a David Gray song found on the latter's 1999 breakthrough album "White Ladder." The album was produced with Raitt by Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake, who teamed for her 1998 set "Fundamental," which peaked at No. 17 on The Billboard 200. The first single will be "I Can't Help You Now."

Other tracks on "Silver Lining" include "Time of Our Lives" and "I Can't Help You Now," written by the team of Tommy Sims, Gordon Kennedy, and Wayne Kirkpatrick. That trio also penned Eric Clapton's 1997 No. 5 Billboard Hot 100 hit "Change the World." "Hear Me Lord" is cover of a song originally written by Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi, while "Back Around" is a co-write with Mali native Habib Koite, whose band Bamada is featured on the track.

Raitt is backed throughout by pianist/vocalist Cleary, guitarist George Marinelli, bassist James "Hutch" Hutchinson, and drummer Ricky Fataar. "This particular unit has been together nearly two years," Raitt says in the liner notes. "A lot of what makes this record so special is the trench we've dug out on the road ... deep and wide."
