Alicia Keys leads the nominees for the 16th annual Soul Train Music Awards with four, including two nods for her J Records debut, "Songs in A Minor." Receiving three nominations each were Aaliyah, India.Arie, and the Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley aka Mr. Biggs. Destiny's Child, Jagged Edge, Jaheim, Michael Jackson, Musiq Soulchild, and Usher garnered two nominations each.

Keys' "Songs in A Minor" was recognized in the best female R&B/soul album and R&B/soul or rap album of the year categories. The singer is also up for best R&B/soul or rap new artist and best female R&B/soul single for her performance on the hit single "Fallin'." Keys will also be presented with the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for entertainer of the year; the male honoree is Dr. Dre. The Quincy Jones Award for outstanding career achievement will be presented to the O'Jays.

Other contenders for best R&B/soul or rap album include Aaliyah's self-titled Virgin set, Jay-Z's "The Blueprint" (Roc-A-Fella) and Ja Rule's "Pain Is Love" (Def Jam).

This year's ceremony, which will be taped March 25 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, will be hosted by Yolanda Adams, Faith Evans, Arsenio Hall, and "Soul Train" host Shemar Moore. The two-hour syndicated telecast is slated to air between March 30 and April 7 (check local listings). A compilation CD featuring tracks from the nominees is due March 26 via MCA.

The awards are determined by a panel of radio program directors, recording artists, and retailers based on chart positions in several national trade publications.
