John Mellencamp will hit the road for a summer U.S. tour, due to kick off July 3 in Burgettstown, Pa., and wrap a month later at Las Vegas's 7,000-capacity Aladdin Theatre. A handful of dates are expected to be added to the 14 that have been confirmed so far, including a New York-area stop, according to Mellencamp's official Web site. As usual, members of the artist's fan club will get first dibs on seats.

Mellencamp is touring in support of his latest Columbia album, "Cuttin' Heads," which debuted at No. 15 on The Billboard 200 last fall and has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for U.S. shipments of 500,000 copies. The single "Peaceful World" featuring India.Arie is No. 18 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 Tracks chart this week.

The tour includes a July 5 appearance at Milwaukee's annual Summerfest and a July 12 show at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Ind., just north of Mellencamp's Bloomington, Ind., homebase.
