Mary J. Blige, Cher, and Celine Dion are the first performers confirmed for "VH1 Divas Las Vegas: A Benefit Concert for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation." The event will be aired live May 23 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, marking the fifth such "Divas" special to date. Additional performers and presenters will be added in the coming weeks.

VH1.com is hosting casino games featuring "Divas" images, video clips and photos, behind the scenes and rehearsal footage, and a "Divas" radio station. Tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday (April 13) at 10 a.m. PT. Special VIP ticket packages are available by calling 212-846-7882.

Blige was on hand last year to honor Aretha Franklin for the fourth "Divas" special, which also featured Celia Cruz; Marc Anthony; the Backstreet Boys' Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, and Kevin Richardson; Jill Scott; Nelly Furtado; and Kid Rock. Stevie Wonder joined the ensemble for a finale of Franklin's "Freeway of Love."

For Dion, the performance will be a prelude to her three-year, 600-show engagement at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, to debut in March 2003. She will perform in a theatrical presentation directed by Franco Dragone (Cirque du Soleil) at a 4,000-seat venue designed like the Roman Coliseum and built especially for her show.
