Lupillo Rivera, A.B. Quintanilla y Los Kumbia Kings, Jaci Velasquez, Los Tri-O, Victor Manuelle, Alejandra Guzman, and Alexandre Pires have been added to the list of performers for this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards, to be held May 9 at Miami Beach's Jackie Gleason Theater. As previously reported, the show will also feature performances by Marc Anthony, Thalia, Juan Gabriel, Cristian, Olga Tanon, and Celine Dion and will air May 12 on the Telemundo network.
Many of the performers are also up for awards at the show, including Rivera, who leads the field as a finalist in six categories. Gabriel is a finalist in five categories, while Velasquez and Cristian are each finalists in three. Finalists, and the eventual winners for the 13th edition of the awards, are determined by the actual sales and radio airplay data that informed Billboard's weekly charts during a one-year period from the issue dated Feb. 17, 2001, through this year's Feb. 9 issue.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards are held directly after the Billboard Latin Music Conference, set for May 7-9 in Miami Beach. The ceremony will be hosted this year by Spanish-language TV stars Miguel Varoni, Manolo Cardona, and Itati Cantoral.
