Celine Dion and Clint Black have a date to sing for sailors. The artists, along with Jessica Simpson and Lonestar, are scheduled to perform May 2 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to kick off National Military Appreciation Month. The event will be taped by CBS and is scheduled for a May 25 broadcast.
The show comes during a busy time for Dion, who recently released her latest Epic album, "A New Day Has Come," which debuted last month at No. 1 on The Billboard 200. As previously reported, the artist performs May 9 during the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami Beach, and May 23 at the "VH1 Divas" concert in Las Vegas.
Two days after the aircraft carrier performance, Black will head to Texas to take part in the Ten-Man Guitar Jam at the Houston Arena Theater. The second annual show, sponsored by local radio outlet KIKK, will also feature Pat Green, Chris LeDoux, Charlie Robison, Trace Adkins, Roger Creager, Daryle Singletary, Cory Morrow, Shannon Lawson, and Deryl Dodd.
Black's official Web site says the event promises "no big band sound, no fancy production, just the artists, their guitars, and the stories behind the music."
