Underground rock icons Guided By Voices are set to entice fans with four limited edition 7" singles in advance of the group's 13th full-length, "Universal Truths and Cycles," due June 18 on Matador.

As part of frontman Robert Pollard's Fading Captain Series via Rockathon Records, the group will release one two-song single each week starting May 21 and leading up to the album's release. The singles will each include an album track -- "Back to the Lake," "Cheyenne," "Everywhere With Helicopter," and "Universal Truths and Cycles" -- as well as a non-album B-side.

Only 2,500 copies of each single will be pressed and limited release to retail is planned. However, a special deal available through the band's Web site offers fans the chance to purchase all four singles on May 21 for $20 (the singles are not available individually from the Web site).

As previously reported, "Universal Truths and Cycles" marks a reunion for GBV and Matador, which released some of the band's most popular albums, including 1994's "Bee Thousand" and 1995's "Alien Lanes." The group released two albums on TVT before resigning with Matador this spring.

In other news, frontman Robert Pollard recently rode the rollercoasters at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J., as part of the video for "Everywhere With Helicopter," directed by Charles Jensen and Jonathan Notaro.
