Buddy Guy was among the multiple winners at the W.C. Handy Awards, staged by the Blues Foundation last night (May 23) in Memphis, Billboard Bulletin reports. Guy won for contemporary male artist of the year and blues instrumentalist of the year (guitar); his Silvertone album "Sweet Tea" was named contemporary blues album of the year.

Other big winners were Little Milton for soul blues male artist of the year and soul blues album for "Feel It"; Charlie Musselwhite for blues instrumentalist (harmonica) and blues song for "Charlie's Old Highway Blues"; and R.L. Burnside for traditional male artist and traditional blues album for the Epitaph set "Burnside on Burnside."

Marcia Ball's "Presumed Innocent" was named blues album of the year, and B.B. King won for blues entertainer of the year.
