Wyclef Jean is scheduled to perform a free concert tomorrow (June 14) aboard the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier/museum in New York. "Wyclef Jean Live ... A Freedom Concert" was originally planned to take place at Coney Island's Astroland park, but was moved because of crowd control concerns. Several thousand people are expected to attend.
The concert is part of a series staged by MuchMusic USA, the stateside version of the Canadian music channel. It's scheduled to air June 20 at 9 p.m. ET and again at midnight.
As previously reported, Jean was among several people arrested earlier this month at a rally against proposed budget cuts for New York public schools. His new 22-track Columbia solo album, "Masquerade," is due out Tuesday.
Jean will also perform Sunday at New York's S.O.B.'s before heading out for a set of dates with Mary J. Blige, beginning June 19 at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C. He'll close out the summer with a Sept. 14 performance at New York's Central Park SummerStage.
Here are Wyclef Jean's upcoming performance dates:
July 19: Washington, D.C. (MCI Center)
July 28: Columbus, Ohio (Polaris Amphitheater)
Aug. 1: Holmdel, N.J. (PNC Bank Arts Center)
Aug. 4: Milwaukee (Marcus Amphitheatre)
Aug. 7: Wantagh, N.Y. (Jones Beach)
Sept. 14: New York, N.Y. (Central Park SummerStage)
