Travis drummer Neil Primrose suffered a head injury while swimming on Sunday in Belfort, France, necessitating the cancellation of four European concerts (July 15 in Lucca, Italy; July 16 in Rome; July 19 in Brittany, France; and July 21 in Dublin).

"Whilst relaxing in the pool, Travis drummer Neil Primrose struck his head and was knocked unconscious," reads a statement from the band's management. "After realizing his predicament, other band and crew members dragged Neil from the pool and gave him assistance. He was taken by ambulance to the local hospital in Belfort to receive treatment and to undergo tests. Early indications suggest that Neil has sustained a fracture on one of his vertebrae and is still in hospital in France undergoing further tests."

Refunds to the canceled shows are available at point of purchase. Travis was touring in support of its latest Independiente/Epic album "The Invisible Band," which debuted at No. 39 on The Billboard 200 last June. The status of the group's headlining appearance at the U.K.'s V2002 festival in mid-August "will become clear in the coming days," according to management.

Here are Travis' canceled tour dates:

July 15: Lucca, Italy (Toscany)
July 17: Rome (Bally Giulia)
July 19: Brittany, France (Vieilles Charrues)
July 21: Dublin (Marley Park)
