The Rolling Stones continue to confirm high-profile support acts for their Licks world tour, which kicks off Tuesday (Sept. 3) in Boston. Shaggy, Soulive, and Elvis Costello are among the newest artists to sign on; Shaggy will open two Florida dates in late October, while Costello will play a lone Oct. 14 date in Cleveland. Both Dr. John and Shemekia Copeland will open a Sept. 16 show at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom.

Other previously announced openers include No Doubt, the Strokes, Jonny Lang, Sheryl Crow, and the Pretenders, who will be on hand for eight of the first 11 shows. Several shows, particularly those near the end of the North American run, do not yet have confirmed opening acts.

As previously reported, the Stones will release a 40-track retrospective, "40 Licks," Oct. 1 via Virgin. One of four new songs, "Don't Stop," was premiered earlier this week on AOL's First Listen program and Netscape Music.
