News on Timothy White Auction, Petty/Lifehouse, Ludacris

NellyAutographed Fender and Martin guitars are among the items available at an online auction to benefit the family of former Billboard editor in chief Timothy White, who died June 27. The guitars are signed by the artists participating in the Oct. 7 Boston and Oct. 8 New York tribute concerts for White, including Jimmy Buffett, Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, Billy Joel, John Mellencamp, Sting, James Taylor, and Brian Wilson. Also up for bid at auction.ticketmaster.com are front-row tickets to the concerts.

Tickets for both Music to My Ears concerts went on sale Monday, and are also available via the FleetCenter and Madison Square Garden box offices. Tickets are priced at $50-$250 for the Boston show and $45-$250 for the New York concert, with proceeds set to benefit the White family.

NellyTom Petty & the Heartbreakers' new single "The Last DJ" will get its worldwide premiere Monday (Sept. 2) at 12:01 a.m. ET via AOL Music First Listen (keyword: First Listen) and Netscape Music. As previously reported, Petty's album of the same name will be released Oct. 8 via Warner Bros. The set features guest appearances by Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham and original Heartbreakers bassist Ron Blair.

Tomorrow (Aug. 30), Lifehouse will see its video for new single "Spin" exclusively premiered via AOL First View (keyword: First View) and Netscape Music. Beginning at 12:01 a.m. ET the video will be accessible for three days. Already No. 25 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, "Spin" is taken from the band's sophomore set, Stanley Climbfall," due Sept. 17 via DreamWorks.

NellyRapper Ludacris has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' "The Fast and the Furious 2," to be directed John Singleton. "Furious" stars Paul Walker and R&B artist Tyrese as undercover agents who team up with a female undercover agent (Eva Mendes) to bring down a formidable drug trafficker named Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), who has eluded authorities. Ludacris will play Taj, a friend of Walker's character, a role for which rapper Ja Rule was originally in negotiations. Production begins in the fall in Miami.

Ludacris' latest single, "Move B**ch" featuring Mystikal and Infamous 2.0, is No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. His latest Disturbing Tha Peace/Def Jam South album, "Word of Mouf," is No. 66 on The Billboard 200 in its 39th week on the chart.
