Albums by DJ Shadow, Bjork, and the Flaming Lips are among the 10 finalists for the second annual Shortlist Prize for Artistic Achievement in Music, whittled down from a much longer list made by a panel of 24 celebrity "listmakers." The winner will be selected at an Oct. 29 awards ceremony and concert at Los Angeles' Knitting Factory.

The final shortlist comprises Aphex Twin's "Drukqs" (Warp/Sire), the Avalanches' "Since I Left You" (Sire), Bjork's "Vespertine" (Elektra), Cee-Lo's "Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections" (Arista), DJ Shadow's "The Private Press" (MCA), Doves' "The Last Broadcast" (Capitol), the Flaming Lips' "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" (Warner Bros.), the Hives' "Veni Vidi Vicious" (Burning Heart/Epitaph/Warner Bros.), N.E.R.D's "In Search Of..." (Virgin), and Zero 7's "Simple Things" (Palm Pictures).

As previously reported, the 24 listmakers include U2's Larry Mullen, Jr., Iggy Pop, Alanis Morissette, Beck, Mos Def, Jill Scott, two members of the Strokes and film directors Baz Luhrmann and Spike Jonze. The Neptunes, the production team that forms two-thirds of nominated group N.E.R.D., were also on the panel, but will now be sitting out the final voting round. They were prevented from voting for their own album in the finalist selection process.

A total of 75 albums comprised the long list from which the finalists were chosen. Titles had to be released in the U.S. between July 2001 and August 2002 and have sold fewer than 500,000 copies at the time of nomination.

Last year's inaugural event saw listmakers that included Beck, Macy Gray, Aimee Mann, and Mos Def choose Icelandic rock act Sigur Ros' "Agaetis Byrjun" (Fat Cat) as the first Shortlist Music Prize honoree. The group received $10,000 and a $10,000 donation in its name to a Sept. 11th relief charity of its choice.
