About a year after establishing a Canadian version of the music channel, MTV will launch its first Campus Invasion tour of the country's institutes of higher learning. Set to kick off Oct. 4 at the University of British Columbia, the event will feature I Mother Earth, 30 Seconds To Mars, Pepper Sands, and Billy Talent.
The 11-date run of indigenous acts will visit schools in Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, North Bay, Kingston, Guelph, and Ottawa before closing Oct. 21 in London, Ont. Event sponsors Xbox, Maybelline, and Doritos will contribute merchandise for goodie bags that each concertgoer will receive at each stop. In addition, fans will have the chance to play Xbox games against band members from some of the acts during events prior to the gigs.
I Mother Earth's latest release is last year's "Earth, Sky & Everything Between" (EMI Canada). "Juicy," a new song from the band's as-yet-untitled new album appears on the Canadian version of the Universal soundtrack to the film "XXX." Fronted by actor Jared Leto ("Panic Room," "Girl, Interrupted"), 30 Seconds To Mars is touring in support of its self-titled debut album, released last month via Immortal/Virgin.
Priced at $22 (Canadian), tickets are available via Ticketmaster Canada.
