Breakout Latin star Juanes has slated a brief U.S. club and theater tour to kick off Sunday (Sept. 22) in Houston. The Bud Lite-sponsored run comes in support of his latest album, "Un Dia Normal" (Surco/Universal Latino), and consists of 13 dates wrapping Oct. 19 in Fresno, Calif. A 16-date tour of Spain will follow, as will large-scale concerts in Mexico and Colombia, before he returns to the U.S. for a second string of shows in December.
The tour will open just a few days after Juanes and Nelly Furtado perform a duet of "A Dios Le Pido" at the Latin Grammy Awards, which will be held Wednesday (Sept. 18) at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS. The pair previously performed together in May at the American Latino Media Arts (ALMA) Awards.
On Friday, Juanes will also perform during the Hispanic Heritage Awards at the Kennedy Center. After the tour's completion, he's slated to attend the inaugural MTV Latin Video Awards Oct. 24 in Miami Beach, Fla., where he's tied with Shakira and Diego Torres with five nominations.
Released in May, "Un Dia Normal" debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart and last month topped Billboard's Latin Pop tally. First single "A Dios Le Pido" topped Billboard's Latin Pop Airplay chart and peaked at No. 2 on the Hot Latin Tracks list.
