As first tipped here last month, Guns N' Roses has begun announcing dates for its first comprehensive North American tour since 1993. So far, 26 shows are confirmed, beginning Nov. 7 in Vancouver. Internet pre-sale tickets for shows in Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia are on sale now via Ticketmaster.com. The trek is expected to encompass a total of 40 dates.

After playing a half-dozen shows in China, Japan, and Europe this summer, the group made a surprise appearance Aug. 29 at the MTV Video Music Awards, performing the new song "Madagascar" amid old favorites "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City."

A new album, "Chinese Democracy," has been in the pipeline for years but is still unfinished, Rose said immediately after that night's performance. "You'll see it, but I don't know if soon is the word," he admitted.

The group now is comprised of Rose, guitarists Buckethead, Robin Finck, and Richard Fortus, drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia, former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson, and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman.
